Bill is gone this week, so I get the duty of taking the girls to and from school each day. Since I work from home and the school is five minutes from Bill's work, normally the responsibility falls with him.
This morning we started the 30 minute drive to school. As typical for me, I immediately start swerving in and out of lanes. Reagan protested at once. She said, "No! This lane!" and points to the right hand lane. See, Bill is a much more conservative driver than me. He stays in the same lane and moves to another lane at precisely the same spot each day. Reagan knows this and had no problem telling me I was doing it wrong.
When I decided to take a different turn than Bill makes, Reagan once again expressed her anger. She pitched a fit and kept saying "No, go that way!" until I turned back onto the path that Bill normally takes.
While I'm glad to know my 2 year old can find her way home when she is 30 minutes away, I'm going to have to work on her and explain that "Daddy's way" isn't the only way to get there.
On a related note, when a school bus drove by she told me, "I want to drive a school bus." I don't know if she meant she just wanted to try it out one time or if she has career aspirations for being a school bus driver. If it's the latter, I'll remind myself that we will encourage our children to be whatever they want to be and then I'll think of what I'll do with all of that money I won't have to pay towards college.
Beep, beep! All aboard!

that is so cute. I am so impressed with her driving skills. If she is this way at 2 just think of what you are in for at 16.
Too cute! I'm sure there are worse things than being a school bus driver... can't think of any at the moment but I'm sure there are. LOL.
Oh is this what I have to look forward to? The hubby and I have very different driving styles. I'm sure I'll get this from time to time from my little one! lol

Yes I feel your pain. My 4yo likes to tell me how fast I am driving and how fast the speed limit is.
Oh my! lol. Well, she sure is a smart one who knows what she wants!!
Reagan can drive my "short bus" with me!! (She would probably do a better job than some of the ones I've ridden with these last 10 years!) She has a mind like a steel trap!! She gives new meaning to the term "backseat drivers"... literally!!
The wheels on the bus go round and round...
Too funny! The mental picture just cracks me up!
You realize that if you're *really* lucky, when Bill gets home, he'll get the full story of how you drive the wrong way. I love getting the lowdown on what my husband's been doing (like missing a turn and having to turn around by driving on rocks). Good luck!
While reading this all I could imagine was your post in about 14 years where you are teaching Reagan to drive, insisting that she drive in the right lane while she's zipping through traffic. Your fingers will be white knuckled on the door handle and your life will be passing before your eyes and she's going say, "But mom, that's how you drive."
She is so smart!! You should be so proud!
